Suzy Schultz
grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida, and started drawing
portraits in junior high, often using her siblings as subjects.
She also became familiar with watercolors at a young age,
through her mother, who is a watercolor artist as well. Despite
her artistic tendencies, she majored in math at Auburn
University, and went on to teaching high school math for four
years following college. At the time, the dedication required
for a career as artist as well as the perceived artist lifestyle
was an intimidation for her. This changed, however, when a
friend encouraged her to take a position as an illustrator with
Network magazine, where he also worked. She had great success as
an illustrator, which gave her the necessary confidence to try
being a full-time artist. She left the magazine in 1995, and
rented studio space at D. Miles Gallery. In the years since,
Schultz has received many accolades for her work. Her paintings
have been the focus of numerous exhibitions, and she was
recently published in The Artists’ Magazine. Suzy Schultz lives
and paints in Decatur, GA.
Nancy Schultz
has participated in many juried shows where she has won awards. Her
paintings are in numerous private and corporate collections here and abroad. Her
work has been printed on shopping and gift bags and greeting cards. Her art knowledge was gained from books, classes and workshops with
professionals such as Jean Grastorf, Alex Powers, Fran Larson and Charles Reid.
Nancy is primarily a watercolorist but combines gesso, gouache, acrylic and
collage to achieve the look she wants. Working on location one day a week keeps
her open to new ideas. In the studio she uses sketches, photographs,
studies and her imagination to create. She is represented by galleries in Augusta, Highlands, North Carolina,
Lynchburg, Virginia and St. Petersburg, Florida. To see more of Nancy's work, view her
online gallery.
